Severn Savings Bank Lends Helping Hand to Owings Mills Community
Severn Savings Bank has been involved with Meals on Wheels since May of 2017, delivering meals every other week. COVID-19 shook the schedule up when volunteers became scarce, and many shifts and routes needed to be covered. The Severn Savings team was happy to assist and picked up those additional routes and meal deliveries, making visits every week instead of every other week.
The meals the team delivers consist of a hot meal, containing items like chicken, green beans and mashed potatoes, and cold meal which has two trays, one that holds items like juice, milk, and fruit and the other for a cold sandwich and side dish like potato salad. The program also has adjustments available for certain dietary restrictions as well as weekend food options by way of frozen meals.
Severn Savings Bank is more than just a bank, we're a bank who cares. We care about the communities and the people who live and work in them while understanding that giving back can make a lasting impression on someone’s life and their community. For full article click here.

Severn Savings Bank Sponsors the Operation Frederick Douglas on the Hill Project
We are pleased to announce our $10,000 sponsorship to help support the Operation Frederick Douglass on the Hill project which is planned to be unveiled Saturday, September 4th. The project, a 24x8 foot mural of Frederick Douglass painted by world-renowned artist Michael Rosato, costs around $50,000 which was the initial fundraising goal.
President and CEO of Severn Savings Bank, Scott Beatty, Jr. and Tarence Bailey, Sr., the Founder of Operation Frederick Douglass on the Hill met earlier last week regarding the sponsorship.
“Severn Savings Bank is pleased to take part in such an impactful project that celebrates African Americans and our local history. This mural is a reminder of the importance of unity and diversity, all values this community can feel proud to uphold. We are excited to see this piece of art in its permanent home in the Hill Community and share the passionate ideas of equality that this piece of art displays,” says Mr. Beatty when asked why this project is important to Severn Savings Bank.
Tarence Bailey, Sr. chose the location for the mural in one of the oldest African American neighborhoods and in the same area Frederick Douglass once stood. Solid Tops, which is a business located on South Street in Easton just off of the Rails to Trails, will be home to the giant mural.
